The Solar-Powered Farming & Income Generation Project, implemented by Lift Community-Based Organization (Lift CBO), is designed to enhance food security, create income opportunities, and promote environmental sustainability in Kakuma Refugee Camp. The project uses solar-powered irrigation systems to support small-scale farming activities on LIFT CBO’s land, enabling refugees and host community members to cultivate crops efficiently, even in water-scarce conditions.
By combining renewable energy with agriculture, the project not only generates green jobs but also empowers community members with practical farming skills, fosters entrepreneurship, and supports sustainable livelihoods. Additionally, the initiative contributes to climate resilience by promoting environmentally friendly farming practices and reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

The Empowerment for Sustainability Project by Lift Community-Based Organization (Lift CBO) aims to equip refugees and host community youth with practical, marketable skills that foster self-reliance and economic empowerment. Through technical skills trainings in areas such as tailoring and dressmaking, catering and pastry, hairdressing and beauty, participants gain hands-on experience that enables them to start small businesses or access income-generating opportunities.
The project focuses on building sustainable livelihoods, enhancing entrepreneurship, and promoting long-term resilience. By linking skill acquisition to income generation, the initiative empowers participants to support themselves and their families while contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the Kakuma community.
The Tree Nursery & Environmental Conservation Project, implemented by Lift Community-Based Organization (Lift CBO), focuses on promoting environmental sustainability and climate resilience in Kakuma Refugee Camp. Through the establishment of tree nurseries and large-scale tree planting, the project restores degraded land, improves biodiversity, and combats the effects of climate change.
In addition to tree planting, the project raises community awareness on renewable energy, climate-smart practices, and environmental stewardship, empowering refugees and host community members to adopt sustainable lifestyles. By combining practical conservation efforts with education, the initiative fosters a culture of environmental responsibility and ensures long-term ecological benefits for the community.
The Digital Skills Training – DREEM Project, implemented by Lift Community-Based Organization (Lift CBO) and supported by WUSC, aims to empower refugees and host community youth in Kakuma Refugee Camp with essential digital competencies. Through practical training in areas such as computer literacy, digital marketing, graphic design, and other ICT skills, participants gain the knowledge and tools needed to access modern job opportunities and start small digital businesses.
The project enhances economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance, enabling participants to leverage technology for income generation and personal development. By bridging the digital skills gap, the DREEM Project contributes to sustainable livelihoods, innovation, and long-term community resilience.
